The SEPTA Midvale Bus Facility was a design-build project that provides maintenance, transportation and storage operations for 275 – 300 vehicles. The building includes 13-bus maintenance stations, automated bus washers, a bus paint and body shop along with fueling capabilities for 8-buses simultaneously. The project also included a separate building which included office areas, computer areas for dispatcher and support staff areas.
The SEPTA Midvale Bus Facility, completed in 1997, is located at the corner of Wissahickon & Roberts Avenues in Philadelphia. It spreads over a 40-acre site with the foot print of the maintenance building being 475,000 s.f.; the equivalent of a 20-story office building.
Thomas P. Carney, Inc. self-performed an equivalent of 35% of the contract including the excavation, 20,000 cubic yards of concrete and masonry work.
